Recording artist Stephanie James brings an evocative, fresh experience to the world of pop music. With a voice often described as “stunning” and “soulful”, Stephanie is a gifted storyteller who masterfully touches the hearts and souls of her fans. Brilliantly conveying the fragility and gravity of intense feelings through her voice, she brings them along on an emotional journey woven through each and every song. Whether in a small room or a crowd of thousands, she connects so intimately with audiences that many have said she can move them to tears and gracefully bring them to the heights of joy.
In addition to 10 years of classical and pop vocal coaching, Stephanie was technically trained at the prestigious Berklee College of Music where she strengthened her skills as a singer, musician and songwriter. Yet, it was years on stages from Boston to NYC, LA and beyond — including such notable venues as Boston Symphony Hall, Agganis Arena, Rockwood Music Hall, and City Winery — that brought her full talent to life on stage and off.
In 2017, Stephanie released her first EP “Rise with the Tide” in collaboration with Grammy-nominated producers Simone Torres and JT Gagarin. This debut ballad-packed project is a soul-stirring, heartfelt reflection of her inner battles with anxiety and experiences falling in and out of love. Through her vulnerability, she aims to move listeners to overcome their struggles using the power of love while exploring themes of rebirth, revival, and renewal. She stands up for herself through her lyrics which she hopes empowers her listeners and gives them strength to do the same.
Both raw and refined musically, the songs solidify Stephanie’s status as a poised and powerful performer often likened to a revival of legendary Linda Ronstadt combined with modern day super talent Sara Bareilles.
Stephanie is bi-coastal, spending much of her time in Los Angeles where she lives today, and the greater Boston area where she grew up. She’s working on her next project which will no doubt be influenced by her vibrant experiences from coast to coast. Watch for new music in the fall of 2019.

"Stephanie makes learning fun without the pressure of being perfect. I always felt insecure about my voice until she helped me break out of my shell and realize my full potential."
"Stephanie is an awesome teacher. I learn a lot and I advance so much in my singing because she pushes me to move out of my comfort zone and let loose. Every class is a joy to go to and I'm always counting down the days until the next one."
