Stephanie James is a technical voice coach and songwriting teacher at Noel Smith Studios. Noel's studio is a safe space to learn, grow and be mentored by some of the most prominent teachers in the industry.  Stephanie prepares students for college auditions, coaches songwriting, performance skills, improvisation, music theory, etc. Stephanie works with actors in musical theater and prepares pop/indie/rock artists for studio sessions and live performances. She helps her students build confidence, understand their voice, develop healthy technique and grow creatively to be expressive artists on stage. 

Stephanie graduated summa cum laude from Berklee College of Music with a Professional Music Degree.  At Berklee, she focused on vocal performance, songwriting, music business, and production. She is pop vocalist cross trained with a technical background in classical and musical theatre. Stephanie is a member of NATS and  has studied with Noel Smith for over 10 years.  She has further training from Kevin Wilson’s Musical Theater and Vocal Pedagogy Workshop at Boston Conservatory and Teaching Singing Through Puberty with Noel Smith and Barbara Wilson Arboleda.

A songwriter and recording artist, Stephanie leads her own band, Stephanie James and has performed on stages from Boston to NYC, LA, and beyond including such notable venues as Boston Symphony Hall, Agganis Arena, Rockwood Music Hall, Hotel Cafe and City Winery. Stephanie also works as a lead vocalist for bands in the Boston area performing at weddings, corporate events, and private parties. Her 17  years of performance experience and training stands as a strong foundation for singing in a range of genres, vocal endurance, and performance skills on stage and in the studio.
